Vassilis M. Mathioudakis
Member of the International Dance Council CID

He was born in Athens in 1973.

He took his first dance steps in 1983 in the Cretan Cultural Association of Ano Liossia “I Megalonisos”, under the instruction of his teachers G. Nikoforos and G. Vassalos.

As a dancer he took part in all of the association's cultural events and in 1985 he stood out as the lead dancer.

In 1987, at the age of 14, his teachers singled him out for his communication skills and his passion for dance instruction, trained him and assigned him his first children’s classes.

In 1991, he took over classes for children, teenagers and adults in the association, and took part in cultural dance events together with important Cretan artists: Kostas Mountakis, Thanasis Skordalos, Leonidas Klados, Vassilis Skoulas, Haralambos Garganourakis, Nikos Skevakis, Giannis Kakoudakis...

In 1992 he began studying to be a physical therapist, his aim being to learn everything he could about the human body, enabling him to gently and surely guide it towards dance, the body's simplest and most spontaneous motion. At the same time, he taught Folk, European and Latin dances, also starting to create his first choreographies.

In 1993 he started organizing and participating in the presentation of Cretan dances on TV shows - documentaries with the aim of disseminating the traditions of Crete. He was also invited as a dance instructor by other cultural associations in Athens, Crete, the Cyclades, the Peloponnese, Macedonia and Thrace.

In 2006 he founded Terpsis Chorou, in his effort to convey his message on the importance of expressing our innermost self through our body. Every year he directs and choreographs dance shows for the students of his academy, introducing them to the magical world of the theater.

In 2018 he became a certified member of the International Dance Council CID.

Throughout the years he has directed and choreographed dance events for TV shows, for HORE.L.P.O.T (Dance Folklore Association of Tinos), for the Epimenon Ellinika Organization, for the famous Brazilian author Paulo Coelho, for the ECCNA 30 Pan-European Conference, for the PMI-Greece Pan-European Conference, for the ACCA of India conference, for the 25th Pan-Hellenic Conference of the Hellenic Association of Oral and Maxilofacial Surgery, for the 3rd Pan-Hellenic Festival “The Deaf and Hearing in Action”, for “The Smile of the Child”...

...and he continues to this day to research, to learn, to teach, to create and to evolve.
